What can you do?
Most of his website tells us about the problem (deforestation) and how big paper companies can help. Well you may ask how can I help? Well that is what this page is about, telling you what you can do.
Well if you want to take a big step to help you can decide to make your own bamboo paper. This means you would stop buying your paper from those big paper companies that are chopping down our forest and they’re for discouraging them to chopping down forests. This would bring more attention to the fact that we want a law to come about where paper companies have to make their own materials.
Though having to make your own paper can be time consuming, so there is other stuff you can do to help stop deforestation. Here are a few examples of things you can do to help.
Check were your food is coming from – A lot of meats have been made from people clearing rainforests to raise the animal that produces that food. So next time you are shopping for your food check the packet or ask the manager where to food has come from and make sure that they haven’t cleared a forest to make your food. It is highly likely that if your food is from south or Central America then this is how they made your meat.
Don’t drive to work or school – Petrol comes from oil, which is retrieved from below ground, this is a factor that can cause deforestation. So if you stop using petrol then that can help stop deforestation, so instead of driving walk or ride a bike. If that is too hard to do then catch public transport. This can also save you money.

Check your wood and timber products – before you buy your product check to see if it has been made sustainably. Even products that you don’t think would be made from forests, because a lot of them are. A good way to check if they are made sustainably is if they have FSC’s (Forest Stewardship Council) seal of approval. This can tell you that the product has been made sustainably.
Recycle – Recycling helps a lot with deforestation. If we re-use the products such as paper that we have then there is no need to go and destroy a forest to make new products. There are many ways that you can recycle: you can give the stuff that you no longer need to a charity shop, you can place the re-usable stuff in a recycling bin and you can simply try and just re-use the product yourself. If you look around you will be surprised to see that there are many places were you can recycle old goods instead of just chucking them into land fills.

Plant trees – The more we plant trees the more trees there is in the world. This can make up for the trees that have been cut down. If we all planted a lot more trees then deforestation wouldn’t be an issue, because we would have enough trees to not run out of.
Don’t over buy – Try not to buy a lot of stuff that you don’t even need. The fewer products that we buy the less need there is to shop down forests to make those products.
Packaging – Think about what packaging you are using and weather you really need it. There are a lot of boxes and bags that are used from forests that you will just chuck out. To help prevent this you can bring bags that you can re-use like cotton bags or maybe try not to use packaging if you are only buying a small amount.
Buy re-used – buy products that have been re-used, so that no new trees need to be cut down to make that product, and extra use has been made out of that tree.
Tell people – The more people who do things to stop prevent deforestation the more trees we can save. So go and tell your friends, family and co-workers.
